My Office
Ask yourself, what has made my life easier?
Ask me. Going from 2 to 3 to 6, 20" digital monitors. Oh, and installing dual 3.8ghz Xeon procs with 6gb's of RAM. I think this system will be good for another year before I sell it on ebay for a fraction of the purchase price. Utilizing six monitors has improved my productivity by enabling me to view my workspace without flipping between window after window. Installing the extra RAM and highend CPU's (as of Feb 2006) has enabled me to run many virtual PC's at once.
So, what you see here is:
Top row screen1 - I usually use this space for a browser. Firefox b/c I can have a tab for each web site I'm viewing.
Top row screen2 - This is a MS LiveMeeting session. I'm on hands free listening to an MS security engineer presenting slides from his computer in Reston, VA.
Top row screen3 - This one is cool. I dedicate this screen to a Terminal Services session to my laptop. I'm working on a Visio drawing of a system I designed.
Bottom row screen1 - This is a virtual PC running on my workstation. VPNed into a corp network.
Bottom row screen2 - This is just cool. I found this by fluke one day as I was flying google earth low over eastern Russia. Check it out at 57.5N,134.5E, it's called Gora Konder.
Bottom row screen3 - This is another virtual PC I use daily to VPN into a DMZ.
Oh yeah, the stapler has got history that parallels the red one in Office Space.

Bad News Bear
Bryson made the All-Star team. These boys pplay other All-Star teams during the seasons and between the seasons. If they stay together long enough, theay can perhaps join a AAU leage in a couple years.

Good to see nodraJ, he hasn't changed since the days of Yore. Still a man of walk abouts, still an Outlaw. He and his posse, Solo and Scout, hung out with us for a couple days.
We got to catch up and share some pics and play with the dogs, fun stuff that makes life worth living. We took TJ to an absolute dive for dinner that serves up the most authentic Mexican food found down valley. I had the pleasure of meeting one of his long time friends, she lives in Glenwood. Salt of the earth kinda gal.

West Slab
Today we poured 10.5 yards of concrete on the west side of our house. Again it was my buddy Doug Davis getting the job done. The 25'x25' slab was finished to the exposed aggregate. I did all the forms and steel, it really kicked my ass.

Swimming with the Girls
Both Gema and Indy love the water, I can't keep Indy out of it. This pic was in the Colorado River at Glenwood Springs. I took the girls up river a half a mile and we swam downstream with some white water rafters going by. Most of the folks jumped out of the raft to swim with the dogs. Fun Stuff.

Summer Hikes
Delle and her buds hiked up to Hanging Lake, twice this summer. The day after they went, a couple people went swimming in the lake which is a no-no. The lake has a protective layer of calcium that lines the bed so the water cannot escape. If you ever make this hike, you will know and never forget the beauty of the Glenwood Canyon.

It's only 101F outside, girls. This is actually how it is most of the time. They do prefer the snow.

I Wanna Rock
After getting pissed one last time, I decided to toss the 5.25" speaks in the sound bar and replace with 6x9's. The old speaks just didn't do it for me, the amps just killed them. BTW, Indy like rock, Gema doesn't.

Sleepy Cat
So this is where the blog name comes from, 245 Road. Great place to get into the mountains and escape the heat. I think it was a very cool 71F (11,000') here while it was 100F at the house (6,000'). This is the road we take to get to the restaurant at the Sleepy Cat Dude Ranch.

Pitstop, 'On Top'. There were so many wild flowers along side the road (245 Road) to Buford. Looks like someone illegally snipped some Columbine.

New Castle Burning Days
The town was built off the sweat of intreped coal miners. There were 3 seperate mine explosions that killed many men in 1898, 1903, and 1915. The coal viens are still smoldering from those explosions, thus the name 'Burning Days'. This pic shows that start of a story of the last gun fight. I had Indy sitting by me in the shade, along with 100's of people. As soon as the gun fire erupted, Indy made tracks and found a path though the tightly packed croud. I had a hard time keeping up with her. She found another scared dog and they bonded. Poor Indy Pants, turned out she had a UTI and it was 102F and probably 112 on the pavement.

Summer Hikes
Delle and her buddies set out on a few back country hikes this summer. This time they hiked up the mountain behind our house. Now Delle knows that route I take when I go Elk hunting.

Delle and I spent a week up at mom's this summer to help out after she tripped at Romy and cracked her patella. The bluebirds like to hang out on these antlers so I installed a pan with a slpash guard so mom could fill it this way.

We had a blast! What a great place to visit. There were people from everywhere, they even have a penny squisher machine. A docent said that most of the bones on display are the real deal, eh. There was this one huge whale fish thing that had huge teeth and in it's belly it had a fosilized skeleton of it's last meal. Creepy.

Sunny the Lizard
This lizard has been hanging out on tour front porch this summer, he's actually pretty darn huge in relation to the other lizards that hang out here.

The white area in the picture is mined Marble. I don't know what is causing the smoke. We took Dad and Cathy up to the mine and found out that there was a 58 ton block mined and is being shipped off to South Dakota to be shaped. It will replace the existing Unknown Soldier's Tomb in DC. The exisiting Marble Tomb has a huge crack.

Indy's 1st Swim
It took little Indy Pants a couple trips to the pond before she followed sister Gema into the deep end. It's actually thrilling to see a lab swim for the first time, almost brings a tear to your eye.

Air assault - Crop Duster flies thorugh smoky skies dropping fire-retardent over the fire.

Fire retardants use ammonium sulfate or ammonium polyphosphate with attapulgite clay thickener or diammonium phosphate with a guar gum derivative thickener. These are not only less toxic but act as fertilizers to help the regrowth of plants after the fire (however, the retardants can be toxic to fish if accidentally dropped in water and exposed to sunlight). Fire retardants contain wetting agents, preservatives and rust inhibitors and are colored red with ferric oxide to mark where they have been dropped. Brand names of fire retardants for aerial application are Fire-Trol and Phos-Chek.

NEW CASTLE - A fast-moving wildfire burned probably 100 acres or more on Jolley Mesa west of New Castle Wednesday and prompted a multi-agency counterattack by land and air.

"This is so bad, it's not funny. I think I've lost about 500 acres so far," said Brett Jolley, who owns the mesa top land with his brother, Kent.

Berthod Motors had their 4th Annual 4x4 Show with a fun obsacle course. The big dogs, one right aafter another, walked right through the course. To me, beating the hell out of a stock jeep is fun, it will go places you never would dream of going. Putting 44's on a jeep or any vehicle is just plain overkill for this part of the Rockies. I do reserve judgement on going big purely for flotation in muskeg. Even then it's a different scene. So a stock jeep would not have made it over these rocks, well maybe with the right driver and plenty of body damage - never say never... Anyway, since I was the smallest vehicle (3" on 33's) to attempt the rocks, plenty of people gathered and were actually cheering. I felt like a rockstar. The spotter said I would never make it, well, kiss my ass, dillweed!

I'm still surprised the girls don't come back with paws riddled with cactus spines. It's fun to hike around the mountainsides and spy the blooming cactus.

The Rubicon Long Arm suspension was getting kinda squeeky, plus the tranny was leaking from a shift assembly seal. I decided to tear into the beast and completely restore the suspension super flex joints with new races and new rubber bushings. BTW, Thanks Dan for getting the old bushings chisel hammered out. I was shocked to see what 3 seasons of Magnesium Chloride will do to a vehicle given that I don't drive very much anyway. I sure noticed a difference after the restore.
